Group Discussion
GD is a discussion, but most students misconstrue it to be a
debate.
A GD is a methodology used by an organization to evaluate whether
the applicant has certain personality traits and/or skills that it desires in
its employees.
In group discussion the group of candidates is given a topic or a
situation, and given a few minutes to think about the same, and then asked to
discuss the same among themselves for 15-20 minutes.
The personality
traits the GD is trying to evaluate may include:
Verbal and Non Verbal skills (includes Communication and body
language)
Self confidence
Team skills
Listening ability
Ability to present views systematically and logically
Time management skills
Assertiveness
Summarizing skills
